“WIZARD of Oz” was the theme of a scarecrow competition held at Cheriton Fitzpaine and householders were most ingenious in the siting of their models.
The winning scarecrows will be used on the Carnival float.
The winners were the Rendell family from Barnshill Close, but runners-up were Maureen and Peter Keeble with their wonderful “Uncle Henry”.
The Brownies and Rainbows portrayed the “Tin Man” and “Dorothy” posing outside the Old School.
The carnival, which is held every two years, takes place tomorrow, Saturday, July 21, with the procession starting from the village school at 7pm.
