MEMBERS of the Winkleigh Morris dancing team have made donations of £200 to five local charities.
The team, which was founded more than 31 years ago, follows the Morris dancing tradition of “taking the hat round” when they dance out in the community.
Over the years the money raised in this way has enabled the team to make a wide range of charity donations.
After the last two “Covid-19” disrupted years the team decided to make a number of additional charity donations.
Okehampton Food Bank which provides an essential service for so many individuals and families was unanimously agreed.
Members then nominated a total of 19 charities before deciding on the final four.
These were Children‘s Hospice South West, St Petrock’s Exeter (which works with homeless people), North Devon Hospice at Barnstaple and Refugee Support Devon.
Team members were delighted to make donations to such worthwhile causes and will continue the tradition of “taking the hat round” when they dance out.
