WINKLEIGH Morris, for its 30th year, had prepared a full summer programme of dancing, including a weekend of dance with many other teams.
Colin Andrews, Winkleigh Morris Foreman, explained: "Alas, the pandemic scuppered all those plans!"
He continued: "However, our members decided to meet in small groups to practice dances and adapt them where necessary to comply with social distancing.
By doing so, we were able to obtain permission to dance out at some locations where there is plenty of room to perform well spaced out, and for any audience to observe from a safe distance."
On Tuesday, August 18, a performance was given on Coldridge Village Green.
Colin continued: "Our newest member, Winkle the horse, was keen to show his prowess at Coldridge.
"We are hoping to dance out a few more times in August and September, but we are planning only a week or so ahead, to take account of any changes in regulations. Details may be found on our website: www.winkleighmorris.org.uk ."
Colin added: "Normally our winter practice season would start on Tuesday evenings from the beginning of October.
"The venue, Winkleigh Community Centre, is provisionally booked, but we will obviously have to abide by whatever restrictions on numbers and use are in force at the time.
"However, we always welcome enquiries from anyone interested in joining us to dance or play. No previous experience in dancing Morris is necessary.
"Finally we would like to mention our pack of souvenir playing cards (52 cards + jokers) produced for our 30th year, and featuring many of our favourite pubs and venues. They are available, priced at £5 per pack, through our website."
