WINKLEIGH Morris ended their 2025 Summer season of Tuesday evening displays with a performance in the car park of the London Inn, Morchard Bishop on September 2.
There is 70 years age difference between the youngest member and the oldest member.
Since their debut performance at Easter, 1990, Winkleigh Morris have performed regularly every year in many villages in the area - even a few times in the year 2020 after lockdown restrictions were eased.
They have also attended weekends of dance and festivals all over England and Wales, and have visited the Channel Islands, Ireland, France and Holland.
Inevitably some members move away or are no longer able to dance for various reasons, and therefore to keep the club active we are always keen to welcome new recruits, of any age from nine upwards.
The side would, however, request that minors are accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.
Colin, Foreman, explained: “Though dancers who have moved to the area from teams elsewhere in the country are particularly welcome, the invitation to come and have a go is firmly there for people, male or female, with no previous experience of Morris dancing.
“We are having two special ‘taster events’ on Sunday, September 28 at Lapford Victory Hall from 2pm to 4pm, and on Tuesday, October 7 at our regular practice venue, Winkleigh Community Centre, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
“For anyone unable to make either of those dates, just come along on another Tuesday.
“We’re a friendly sociable group and we would be pleased to see you – we meet at the Community Centre every Tuesday from October until the end of April.”
