SOME unusual structures have sprouted in Cheriton Bishop gardens after members of the village Gardening Club spent an afternoon learning how to make willow plant supports.

Tutors were Richard and Suzanne Kerwood from Windrush Willow, near Exeter, who had visited last year to show how to make willow Christmas decorations.

Richard said that after that visit the club members had been so enthusiastic that they had asked Richard and Suzanne to return for another session.

This time members made tall circular willow supports with a spiral pattern around each one.

The club is holding a cream tea and mini show at the Spalding Hall tomorrow, Saturday, May 25 from 2.30pm, plus a table top sale of plants, gardening books and other items.
