ALL praise to the "whistleblower" (Courier, September 12) for revealing the real reasons behind the temporary closure of the beds at Crediton Hospital. Who would apply for a job there, when rumours have been going around for sometime concerning the future? One is puzzled by the fact that Tiverton and Okehampton do not seem to have such difficulty. Some economy with the truth is felt. As to the statement that people prefer to be looked after at home, if that is the case why is there such feeling concerning the closure of beds? This was demonstrated by the vast number of signatures on the petition to save them. Why are these closures proposed by the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust pre-empting the public meeting concerning the future of the county's health service?
