THE charity Devon Air Ambulance is this year celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The lifesaving service has completed more than 30,000 missions, bringing advanced, time-critical care to communities across Devon.

It was launched with a special ceremony at Exeter Cathedral in August 1992 and Courier photographer Alan Quick was there to capture images from the occasion.

A large crowd gathered to watch the air ambulance land on Cathedral Green.

After it landed there was an opportunity for people to see close up the air ambulance and talk to paramedics, pilots and staff as well as meet Ann Rali who led the campaign for an air ambulance for Devon.

Devon Air Ambulance now has two air ambulances in the county and the public remain committed to fundraising for the charity which does so much to help others.

A free family-friendly celebration to mark the 30 years will take place at Darts Farm, Exeter from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, August 13.
