SOME TIME ago it was muted that a cycle route would be considered between Crediton and Exeter.

The whole idea has gone very quiet; however, I would like to raise the prospect again.

Whilst I have every admiration for cyclists, the A377 is not the ideal road for them to be commuting on, or travelling on for leisure.

The traffic hold ups, the dangerous overtaking manoeuvres and the lack of consideration for those on bicycles, is something that could be removed if a proper cycle route was constructed.

It has been achieved between Exeter and Dawlish and Exeter and Exmouth, so why not between Crediton and Exeter?

We have two routes, that are flat (cycle friendly), namely the river and the railway line. So to follow either, or a combination of both, surely cannot be beyond the realms of possibility.

It would also, hopefully, prevent cyclists using St Andrew's Road to get into the city.

I would welcome any comments and/or support for this project so that perhaps we could put pressure on the powers that be to reconsider this idea.
