FOLLOWING a strong debate, West Devon Borough Council Conservative group have kept the Council Tax increase down to three per cent.
Conservatives on West Devon initially proposed 2.5 per cent but that was rejected and a counter proposal of 3.5 per cent came from the Liberal Democrats, which was also rejected. The Conservative group's final proposal of three per cent was successful.
The Council is suffering financial difficulties just like everyone else. However, we think it is important the Council Tax increase is kept to a minimum for residents in these uncertain and turbulent times.
Cllr James McInnes,
Leader of the
Conservative Group WDBC
