A SPREYTON couple will be attending a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace next month.
Wendy Sincock was nominated by her mother, Barbara Bridgewater, to recognise her daughter for the work she does with organ donation and to mark her achievements in recent years at the British and World Transplant Games.
Wendy had a kidney transplant 10 years ago and since then has been an advocate for organ donation and achieved outstanding success.
She has competed in various sports from swimming to canoeing to discuss and shot putt, to name but a few.
In total she has won 68 medals at the British and World Transplant Games.
Wendy says she is "delighted" that he husband, John, will be with her at Buckingham Palace.
"This marvellous occasion will happen in National Transplant Week, which starts on July 4.
"Obviously a new outfit and hat are required and John will be wearing a suit.
"I was totally surprised to receive the invitation from the Lord Chamberlain and afterwards my mother told me how she had organised it all.
"She even got two letters of support, one from a donor family and another from a gentleman whose wife was a former kidney patient.
"This was all done without my knowledge", said Wendy.
During National Transplant Week, locally, there will be a fun event held at Exeter Quay, from 3pm on July 4.
Starting from "Saddles and Paddles" those attending will be invited to walk, cycle or canoe to the Double Locks for tea.
Those taking part are asked to wear red and dress to impress - the funnier the better!
Wendy said that all taking part will be doing so at their own risk, but the aim was to promote organ donation.
If you wish to hire a canoe, or for further information, please ring Wendy on 01647 231597.
