A GROUP of 30 members of the 3rd Crediton Guides went to "Wellies and Wristbands" during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The Girlguiding UK festival was held at its training centre in the New Forest and saw more than 3,500 Guides and Rangers get together with a packed activity programme by day and live music in the evening.

Girls took part in numerous activities including zip lines, fencing, swimming, canoeing, zorbing, craft and science sessions, crazy golf, abseiling, Jacobs ladder, low ropes courses and relaxing in hot tubs or taking in the view from the ferris wheel.

On the Saturday evening the girls all dressed in superhero fancy dress for the music which was headlined by up and coming boy band "RoadTrip".

The Sunday was a particularly soggy day with 10 hours of rain, but it didn’t dampen spirits and girls continued to do as many activities as possible as well as enjoying their friends company.

One member of the group took to the stage as part of "Guides got Talent" and blew the judges away with her rendition of "2002" by Anne Marie.

The music on the final night included the artist Channy, who despite the generator cutting out, held the crowd and got them all singing hits from "The Greatest Showman" a capella.

The group returned home slightly soggy and tired on Monday afternoon.

The 3rd Crediton Guides now has more than 50 girls meeting on a weekly basis and would love to hear from anyone who would be interested in volunteering to help run activities and providing opportunities for the girls.
