THOUSANDS of refugees are still living in refugee camps in the Middle East and other parts of Europe and are in need of clothes/bedding and food.

With this in mind Welcoming Refugees in Crediton is organising another collection to take place on Saturday, September 8 from 10am to 1pm at Crediton Congregational Church, High Street (opposite St Saviour’s Way). There is also short-term parking space outside the church.

Clothes, shoes, blankets, sleeping bags and coats are needed but also first aid kits, and a range of toiletries. Also tinned food but not meat, and rice and pasta are needed.

Anyone who is unable to make the above time, can leave their supplies at Crediton Community Bookshop, preferably on any Friday afternoon between 4pm and 5pm (up to September 7). Leaflets there give more details about what is needed.

Welcoming Refugees in Crediton is still looking for a private landlord who would be willing to rent out his/her house to a Syrian family. Housing Benefit would cover the rent, and the contract would be overseen by Mid Devon District Council who are committed to taking up to five Syrian families for the duration of the scheme.
