ST PETER’S Church at Dowland near Winkleigh is holding a Floral Wedding Festival this weekend to celebrate and remember all the weddings the church has seen over the centuries.
Taking place on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, from 10.30am to 7pm, there will be an opportunity to see 20 beautiful wedding gowns, all from local brides dating back 60 years.
To accompany this unique display, the Church will be filled with wedding flowers creating a truly memorable occasion. The small rural Church dates back 900 years and has been the focal point of the community for generations.
This is the first time the bridal gowns have been on display together and many of the couples will be present. Elegant wedding floristry will adorn the Church creating a beautiful and rare event.
Those who go along will be able to enjoy morning coffee or afternoon tea with home-made cakes.
The event is free to enter but donations would be gratefully received in aid of St Peter’s Church.
