CREDITON Hamlets Parish Council met on Monday, April 4, when members heard that the council’s new website is now live and can be accessed at: www.creditonhamlets.org.uk .
The council is keen to encourage people to use the site.
Minutes and agendas, financial records, and current policies and procedures can all be accessed on the website.
There is also a contact form for people to use, should they wish to contact the council.
The council discussed the Play Area in Yeoford and learnt that a meeting between Mid Devon District Council and District Councillors Heal and Coren to discuss this had been postponed.
The clerk presented the Annual Accounts 2015/16 and these, together with the Annual Governance Statement were approved.
These will now go to the Internal Auditor in May. The accounts will be published on the council website. The council decided to set up a Finance Committee to further improve their internal control and management of the council’s resources.
The council was extremely concerned about the mobile Post Office service, operating from Cheriton Bishop Post Office, which had been out of commission due to connectivity problems for at least five weeks.
The clerk and Cllr Coren reported on the efforts they had made to try to find out more but so far there was no solution.
The clerk was asked to write to the local MP about this and the generally poor broadband services within the parish.
The council heard about the concerns that residents around Barnstaple Cross have about the effects of the new Link Road on the traffic in the area.
Residents are concerned about the volume and the speed of traffic.
The clerk was asked to write to Devon County Council (DCC) to ask them to carry out the promised traffic survey.
The council is aware and has supported Crediton Boniface Rotary Club in its wish to place planters on the road out of Crediton towards Exeter.
Cllr Way said that the club now needed to provide drawings of the planters to DCC for approval and some final consultation needed to take place before they could go ahead.
The next meeting of the parish council will be on Monday, May 9, at the Council Offices in Crediton. This will include the Annual Meeting and will start at 7.15pm.
The draft minutes of Crediton Hamlets Parish Council are available on three noticeboards within the parish: Hookway, Westernlea and Yeoford and on the website.
