FOR the last two months we have had a serious water leak in Barris View in Lapford.

The gardens and paths to both our house and our neighbours Sandra Reid and John Fuache and also two other neighbours have been running with water, the grass is like a bog so much so it is now necessary to wear welly boots to go to feed our chickens even when we had the really hot weather.

Both ourselves and Sandra have contacted South West Water on many occasions and they have visited but still have not cured the problem as they keep saying the water leak is on someone else’s property and if the problem wasn’t sorted within 30 days South West Water would repair the leak and bill the owner of the land.

It has been well over the 30 days and the leak is still ongoing and getting worse.

It has got to the point that the slabs on the path are moving and the paths are getting covered in a slimey gunge.

With the weather getting colder we will soon get frosts and it will become a danger and a slip hazard.

We have got to the point of not knowing which way to turn to get help and we are at the end of our tether.

A representative of South West Water told the Courier:

“South West Water is working with the residents of Baris View to pinpoint the location of a leak on private pipework.

"This has proved difficult as we do not hold records of private pipes, and this case is further complicated because of the age and the material of the pipework and the fact it serves up to 18 properties.

"We will continue to try to establish the exact source of the leak so the repair can take effect as soon as possible, with further investigation work is scheduled this week.”
