THE story appeared in the Courier on Friday, October 3, Issue 1001.
CREDITON'S £8.5 million link road has now opened to traffic providing a 760-metre single carriageway direct to Lord's Meadow Industrial Estate from the Wellparks roundabout on the A377.
Crediton is a designated Air Quality Management Area and the link road forms a key part of Mid Devon District Council's Air Quality Action Plan.
The aim of the new road, Wellparks Hill, is to improve air quality, ease congestion and provide a direct route to the industrial estate for lorries.
Do you think the link road is achieving its aims?

What you told us ..........
Since it opened, I've only been on it once. I don't think it will make that much difference, most of the cars and lorries still go through the town, especially if they are going to Barnstaple. Everyone I have spoken to says they have been on it for fun!
Sara Cumins, Crediton
Initially I thought it was a waste of time. I have been out of the country, but understand that people from the Willow Walk area use it. But, I don't think it will make any difference to heavy goods vehicles.

Readers comment on the "Garden Tax:"
The proposed "garden Tax" is a retrograde step.
I agree with Mr Wright that it will lead to an increase in "fly tipping" and /or go into the black bags.
Bill Rimmer
If it is necessary to charge me £50 for my garden waste, will I get a rebate for using my black bag less, as it will not need collecting as often?
Bill Dixon
