NORTH Tawton Firefighters, due to retirements, have issued an urgent appeal for more people from the community to become firefighters.

The station is recruiting to maintain its availability to respond to emergency incidents.

Those who are interested and live or work within five minutes of the fire station are asked to consider: "Would you like to help your local communities and get paid for it?"

Employers that would allow their staff to respond whilst at work are also asked to let their staff know that more firefighters are wanted and to get it touch with the Fire Service if more information is wanted.

Potential recruits should have a good level of fitness and health and be over 18 years old.
