FIRE crews from across the county have this evening (Wednesday, October 4) been tackling a blaze in the thatched roof of a property at Cholhouse, Bondleigh, between Crediton and Winkleigh.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue received a telephone call at 6.18pm to say that the thatched roof of the property was alight.

Eight fire appliances from nearby stations were sent along with various special appliances.

Crews also began carrying out salvage from the property.

At 9.20pm firefighting operations were taking place internally and externally at the property.
