CREDITON Methodist Church was delighted to host and arrange this year’s Give & Take event, which was held from Wednesday, May 31 to Saturday, June 3.

A number of volunteers helped with the event including 20 from Crediton Methodist Church who helped in the shop and 18 volunteers from Sustainable Crediton.

Support was given by Emma Croft, project manager for Waste Management from Devon County Council.

Large quantities of goods were given and taken including household items, baby clothing, books, games, toys and bric-a-brac.

The intention was to provide a way for unwanted goods to be made available to other people who might have need of them and thus avoid ending up in landfill.

During the four days 502 people visited and took away up to six items each free-of-charge.

In addition to the shop, 20 helpers from Crediton Methodist Church, including young people who attend the youth activities, manned a café serving tea and coffee and scrumptious homemade cakes and biscuits, as well as delicious homemake soups during the lunch time.

The café took £240 to support youth work in Crediton.

Although not a fundraiser, donations given in the shop amounted to £56 which will help cover costs.

The organisers thank everyone who helped to make the event such a success and to those people who attended and donated goods.
