LAPFORD Revel got off to a great start last week with a number of events, getting underway properly on the Thursday (July 4) with a colourful carnival parade which was followed by the coronation of the Revel King Toby and Queen Emily and performances from morris dancers.

Just two-thirds of A&E arrivals at the Royal Devon University Healthcare Trust seen within four hoursThere were two giants, the Lapford giant representation of Thomas A Becket, also known as St Thomas of Canterbury and St George came all the way from Sidmouth and also took part with a giant dragon.
There was Maypole Dancing by local children and lots of food and drink and it proved to be a hugely-successful evening.
Other events included a history talk, cream teas with Crediton Town Band, the rose and sweet pea show, family games, a revel day, ceilidh and disco, church service, arts and crafts and a family barn dance.
