LAPFORD Revel got off to a great start last week with a number of events, getting underway properly on the Thursday (July 4) with a colourful carnival parade which was followed by the coronation of the Revel King Toby and Queen Emily and performances from morris dancers.

There were two giants, the Lapford giant representation of Thomas A Becket, also known as St Thomas of Canterbury and St George came all the way from Sidmouth and also took part with a giant dragon.

There was Maypole Dancing by local children and lots of food and drink and it proved to be a hugely-successful evening.

Other events included a history talk, cream teas with Crediton Town Band, the rose and sweet pea show, family games, a revel day, ceilidh and disco, church service, arts and crafts and a family barn dance.
