MR Bill Dixon (Crediton Courier November 13) raises several valid points in his letter and I am glad that he has highlighted two comments made by councillors at a recent meeting of the Town Council.

His reference to the "concerns of the residents of Exeter Road" has been a number one priority as far as I am concerned.

I have supported them during their campaign for a proper Link Road that will reduce the pollution of this over crowded road.

Likewise, I and other members of the town council are doing their best to address the problems of Four Mills Lane, which will only get worse when Tesco opens and extra traffic use what is, after all, a lane, as a cut through to Tesco.

Mr Dixon highlights the remark made concerning "the Town becoming split down the middle" over the choice of route. I was concerned when this remark was made because it gives the impression that we are a town divided against itself. I do not believe that this is true.

I, for one, voted in favour of the Valley route because I believe that this would be the best solution for the town and no, I do not sit on the fence, barbed or otherwise.

What I do believe is that there is a solution to this on-going affair but what we need, most of all, is goodwill on the part of everyone concerned and that the Town puts up a united front and fights for justice for all residents.
