FOR a short time during the morning of Sunday, November 14, traffic was stilled and almost total silence fell over Crediton Town and Hamlets War Memorial on Union Road as people stood to remember all those local people who had lost their lives in conflicts since 1914.

There had been the service in Crediton Parish Church after which everyone had walked, led by Crediton Town Band, up the road to the War Memorial.

There prayers were said, led by the Rector the Rev Matthew Tregenza, wreaths were laid then the procession went on down Union Road to the town square where the salute was taken by the Mayor of Crediton Cllr Liz Brookes-Hocking and the chairman of Crediton Hamlets Parish Council, Cllr George Mortimer.
