SANDFORD School came out champions at the Warburtons Healthy Eating Tag Rugby Festival last month beating off competition from six teams.
Held at Sandy Park, the ground of Exeter Chiefs, the event saw school children
from Cheriton Bishop, St Michael's, Wynstream and Sandford, competing for gold medals.
It was a closely fought competition, with Wynstream A team and Sandford both looking strong in the final match but Sandford's experience showed and they took the title, winning 7-5.
This Tag Rugby Festival was the first of two tag festivals run by the Community Chiefs department of Exeter Chiefs. The second will be held in October.
Keith Fleming of Exeter Chiefs, said: "We would like to thank the teachers and helpers for organising the players and teams at the tag festival and a special thanks to Warburtons for their huge input into the work we are doing with schools in the area."
