A GRANT from Devon County Council (DCC), Invest In Devon, has enabled three park bench seats to be placed at the top of the Dave Pullen Memorial Recreation Field in Copplestone.

The seats have been placed at the top of the field to enable people to enjoy the wonderful views to Dartmoor and also to watch the football matches when played at the ground.

There are three extra concrete bases available for memorial seats.

Anyone who would like to remember loved ones they have lost, can purchase a seat at a cost of £360 + VAT.

Ken Warren from Copplestone Recreation Association (CRA), said he would like to thank Cllr Nick Way and Devon County Council for their support for the recreation field over the years, with a DCC Airport Grant and Lottery Grant, which enabled the recreation field to be levelled and drained.

The recreation field is one of the best in the county.

Full planning has been obtained for a Community Hall to be built on the recreation field and the village is awaiting the result of a Lottery Grant application.

Ken said that the Recreation Field has been nominated for the best green open space/park by Fields in Trust.

New hedging has been planted on the road side of the recreation field thanks to the Woodland Trust.

A small flower bed on one side of the entrance to the recreation field has been planted and daffodil bulbs on the opposite side.

Mr Warren extended many thanks to Iris Middleton and the residents of the village for the planting.
