THE Bookery, Crediton’s award-winning independent bookshop, is to host a special tribute evening celebrating the life and legacy of Frank Letch MBE.
It will take place on Friday, September 5 at 7pm, with Natalia Letch, Frank’s wife, being joined in conversation by Devon County Councillor Steve Keable, one of his close personal friends.
Frank Letch, former Mayor of Crediton and Chairman of Mid Devon District Council, passed away earlier this year.
A passionate advocate for disability rights and a tireless community leader, his life was marked by resilience, humour, and service.
His 2022 autobiography, “Just In Case”, offers a candid and touching personal history - rich with anecdotes, romantic adventures, challenges, laughter, and well-earned recognition.

In the book’s foreword, Frank wrote that his aim was to give his family - seven children, their partners, and nine grandchildren - “an insight as to who I was and am.”
He also hoped it would offer encouragement to “children of Reach and their families, to anyone with a physical difference or mental health challenge.”
He added, of his life story: “There are no ‘right answers’, but just the experiences of someone who has had a challenging life.”
During the evening, Natalia will read passages from Just In Case, while she and Steve share memories and reflections on Frank’s remarkable life. The event will conclude with a Q and A session.
“Frank lived his life with extraordinary courage, humour and compassion,” said Natalia. “This event is a chance to share his story, celebrate his achievements, and reflect on the love and laughter he brought to so many lives. I’m honoured to be able to read from his book and keep his voice alive in our community.”
Join what will be an evening of remembrance, inspiration, and community spirit.
Copies of “Just In Case” will be available at £10. Tickets £4 in-store or at: www.thebookery.org.uk.
