CHERITON Fitzpaine Methodist Church members organised a “Thank You” Lunch for the regular helpers at their Breakfast Club.
Nearly 10 years ago, Mike Pratt had the idea of opening the church once a month for anyone who would like to have breakfast, or just a drink, with others. He persuaded his wife Barbara to help him, and after discussion with other church members, the club was launched.
In the beginning, Mike was concerned that he would not have enough help to put the idea into practice, but soon managed to “persuade” our friends at St Matthew’s Church and people who did not attend any church to help.
The Breakfast Club is always well-patronised, and a small area is set aside in the chapel area for quiet reflection.
Although prices are reasonable, the club is self-sufficient, and any profits go into renewing kitchen equipment, and then back into the church, so that we are able to send donations to such charities as Action for Children, and Methodist Homes.
The next Breakfast will be held on Saturday, September 2 from 9am to 12 noon.
