IN RESPONSE to Mr Michael Szabo's letter in the Crediton Courier dated February 4, I would like to remind him that "teenagers" are the future of this town and if they are not encouraged to become "the best that they can be," then this will be to the detriment of the town.
Where are the next leaders of the town, if they do not come from this generation of young people?
In years to come our mayor will have been one of those "teenagers". We will need leaders of commerce and light industry; where are they to come from?
We were all young once, even Mr Szabo, but we were all given a chance and encouraged.
What is the old expression, give a dog a bad name? Is it any wonder that some young people go off the rails if they are continually put down?
Yes, of course there is good and bad in all society but we need to be seen to give people a chance to grow and that is what this town is trying to do and in future years we shall reap the benefit.
I would like to remind Mr Szabo that when the Tesco money was proposed there was a request to people to come forth with a suitable project to make use of this project money, I do not recall a project coming forth with this gentleman's name on it.
If it had, I am sure that it would have been given serious consideration.
As far as improvements to the town are concerned I am sure that the Town Council will consider matters that he has highlighted in his letter if he goes through the proper channels that he himself has highlighted.
