AT the recent Somerset Area BJC course, grading and competition, members from Tedburn St Mary Judo Club spent two very successful days, gaining grading and winning medals.
On the first day, Ryan Spooner won yet another gold medal in fine style to add to his ever growing collection.
Two new members, Tizia and Mengi Cuming both entered in their first-ever competition, and came away with gold and bronze respectively.
The second day saw Ryan up against fierce opposition, having to win six out of six fights in a row to gain his two black tabs, leaving him just one step away from achieving his junior black belt.
Sensei Allen Cater told the Courier: "It was marvellous – a sensational weekend for the Club."
Sensei Allen is looking forward to Ryan being his first junior black belt at Tedburn Club. No pressure, Ryan!
Tedburn St Mary Judo Club welcomes anyone of any age or ability who would like to try out this sport.
Tedburn St Mary is run by Sensei Allen Carter on Friday evenings, 6.30pm – 7.30pm primaries, 7.30pm – 8.30pm juniors and 8.30pm – late seniors.
