A ONE night show, The Old Skool Disco, staged in July by Tedburn St Mary’s drama group raised £633 for local cancer charity FORCE.
The cheque was presented by TADS chairman, Roger Sibley, before everyone sat down to a buffet Sunday lunch at the Kings Arms in Tedburn.
TADS next show will be a Murder Mystery, presented on two nights with a two-course dinner each time. People are invited to go along to hone their detective skills while helping raise funds for Hospiscare and Force Cancer Centre. The box office is open, 01647 61718 or email: [email protected] .
This year is the 30th anniversary of FORCE cancer charity. Naomi said that as well as the information centre in the RD and E Hospital, they have outreach centres on one-day-a-week in Okehampton and Tiverton and plan to open a third outreach centre in East Devon.
“This means that people who do not need to go to the Exeter hospital for treatment can access services in the community.
“It costs £1.5 million a year to run all our services so this sort of community support given by Tedburn today is so vital,” said Naomi.
She added that a long-time member of TADS, Shirley Garrish, had also been a volunteer for FORCE and was very much missed by the FORCE staff. She thanked TADS for their continued support.
Roger Sibley added that TADS wished to thank Tom Woodley, owner of the Kings Arms, for his generous support for the group.
