GOOD all the way through was the verdict of the latest Ofsted report on Tedburn St Mary Primary School. This covers the overall effectiveness, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils, and leadership and management.
With 94 pupils, Tedburn is described by the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Servicesw and Skills, as being smaller than average, has been part of the trio of schools that make up the Woodleigh Federation for two years, says the quality of teaching is "good", sometimes "outstanding".
The report says that pupils' overall attainment when they leave the school is "above average". While there are some areas where Ofsted said progress was not so good, progress in some, such as mathematics, was "outstanding".
The "bright and vibrant learning environment in the Key Stage 1 classrooms, both inside and outside, encourages exploration and self confidence."
Pupils enjoy learning, work "extremely well" together, whatever their age, and enjoy the different activities that help them to develop their individual skills.
Teaching assistants were well trained and "in the best lessons" teachers made sure that pupils were given work to stretch and develop their understanding.
Attendance of pupils was "well above average" and improving, with pupils being courteous and respectful towards visitors, showing pride in their school, with no incidents recorded over the past year of poor behaviour.
Senior leaders in the school have a clear view of the school's strengths, they know which areas need to be developed and have good capacity to make the necessary improvements to help pupils learn even more effectively.
Headteacher, Andy Keary, commented that he and Mrs Sue Leyman, Federation head, were pleased with the overall report. He thanked the staff and parents for their work and support.
