THE Friends of Crediton Library (FocL) will be holding a “Tea Party with a View” at Crediton Library on Thursday, August 18, from 2pm to 4pm.

Admission is free, but visitors will be invited to make a donation (£3 suggested) towards the work of FoCL in raising funds for special projects at the Library.

As well as enjoying freshly brewed tea with scones, cream and jam (the latter in no particular order) this is an opportunity to enjoy the Library’s new Community Garden and decking area, with its fine view across Newcombes Meadow.

The decked area is home to the innovative wooden benches carved by local people during several weeks of workshops last autumn.

Visitors to the Town Square may remember the workshops taking place - and hearing the sounds of tools being sharpened and sections of wood being chopped and carved.

The project was led by community artist James Bond and supported by Crediton Town Council.

The cost of the Community Garden project has been generously supported by numerous local organisations and individuals, including Crediton Town Council and Crediton Hospital League of Friends.

For catering purposes it would be useful to know numbers attending. If you would like to attend please let a member of the Library’s staff know by telephoning 01363 772578.

The Community Garden is open to all users of Crediton Library, where visitors can read books or the Library’s newspapers, hold meetings, or just chat and make use of the Library’s free Wi-fi.
