CREDITON Arts Centre is delighted to present Taking Flight – an entertaining evening of short plays by new Asian writers. The plays, to be performed on Friday, February 10 at 7.30pm, are the winners of a competition run by Red Dragonfly Productions, aimed at finding new writers from within British Asian communities.

From the many entries, they chose three plays to be taken through to final production in a unique evening of theatre.

“These plays were born in the East but raised in the West,” said Michelle Yim, director of Red Dragonfly. “They are tales of wonder and of life, all told with a hint of spice.”

The plays, which will be performed at venues across the UK, tell stories about the experiences of Asian or mixed race people living in Britain today.

They are “Ketchup”, by Sammy Wong, “Hema Anjali” by Chandni Lakhani and “Ten Percent of Nothing is Nothing” by Joan C. Guyll.

Tickets are £9 or £7 for concessions and can be bought from Crediton Arts Centre on 01363 773260, Crediton Community Bookshop on 01363 774743, Sandford Stores on 01363 775805 or online at: www.creditonartscentre.ticketsource.co.uk .
