ALL sorts of ways to re-use, to be more economic, adventurous and to help the environment have come through Sustainable Crediton.

A chance to find out everything came when the group held its annual, and popular, Seed Share at the Old Town Hall in Crediton on Saturday, February 20.

As well as the eight big boxes stuffed with packets of various seeds - herbs, roots, brassicas, peas and beans etc - plants were for sale plus there were hints and money saving ideas such as using old knitting needles as plant stakes or empty snail shells on the top of stakes for safety.

Various gardening and plant books were for sale, magazines about growing organically, seed catching kits.

Other stallholders included herbalist Anne Stobart of Crediton with Herbs for Health and information about the group’s Pig Club, Orchards Live, Tiverton Beekeepers’ who have been booked for next year’s event, Devon Woods Project, Devon Wildlife Trust, and more.

Refreshments included home-made soups and cakes (really scrumptious), plus home-made preserves for sale, or empty jam jars to take home.

There was also information about how to ask local supermarkets what they intend to do about food waste and “wonky” vegetables.

Children were encouraged to use charcoal from the group’s own charcoal burner to draw pictures.

Music was by local group The Woodsmen.
