CREDITON Library is pleased to be hosting three weeks of targeted support for job seekers with Brian Norman from Learn Devon.

Brian will be at the library on Wednesdays, March 16, 23 and 30 from 10am to 12 noon. These free sessions can be attended singly or as a course of three.

Week 1 - Starting your Job search

• Explore ways forward with your job search

• Explore wants, needs and aspirations and how that changes your job search

• Explore where and how work can be found

• Organise the job search process.

This workshop is about taking a step back and exploring a way forward for your job search. Exploring strategies around wants, needs and aspiration to establish a targeted approach to your search.

Week 2 - Improve your CV

• Look at the steps needed to create a good CV

• Explore what employers are looking for in a CV

• Identify common mistakes.

Linked to the first workshop or as a standalone course, take a pragmatic look at your current CV and explore ways of getting your CV to stand out from the crowd.

Week 3 – Improve your Job applications

• To identify the information needed on an application form

• To recognise the importance of the application statement

• To raise awareness of the mistakes commonly made on application forms.

Linked to the first workshop or also as a standalone course, explore how to use your application form to improve success at the shortlisting stage and of gaining an interview opportunity.
