CREDITON’S Wetherspoon’s public house will remain closed today, Monday, July 17, following the sudden death of a member of staff.

Emergency services rushed to The General Sir Redvers Buller, at about 8am this morning and a Devon Air Ambulance landed in the St Saviour’s Way car park at the rear of the pub.

Police also attended.

A notice was placed on the front door of the pub, which reads: “Closed until further notice, sorry for any inconvenience”.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “ A member of staff at the pub had a heart attack and despite the efforts of both the pub and ambulance staff, passed away.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the friends and family of the deceased.

“The pub staff are a very close knit group and this has been a great shock for them.

“The pub will remain closed for the rest of the day and reopen on Tuesday morning.”
