AT a recent meeting of Sandford Parish Council, a final choice of suggestions was made for the 12 street names for “Libetts Grange”, the new proposed development in the parish of Sandford, for 257 new dwellings, which has been submitted to Mid Devon District Council (MDDC).
A request to the Parish brought in more than 50 suggestions and the council are grateful for the interest taken by parishioners.
MDDC will decide on whether the suggestions will become a Street, Drive, Road etc.
The list of names consists of:
• Local names - Pedlars Pool, Creedy Bridge, Hellions… and Milestone …
• Old field names - Chestnut Field and Surplus Meadow.
• Reference to Sandford’s past prominence in the weaving and cloth trade -
Perpetuana and Serge
• Local birds - Kingfisher, Heron and Egret.
• Local trees: Lackham Oak.
