MORCHARD Bishop’s monthly table top sale takes place on Saturday, November 14 from 10am to 12 noon at the Memorial Hall and will include a stall selling items to raise money for the “Joy Counselling Consortium”, a charity based in Kenya.

There will be an opportunity to buy a variety of goods, including new items ideal for Christmas gifts, second-hand children’s books (in excellent condition) and bric-a-brac.

There are many challenging issues in rural Kenya associated with HIV/AIDS, alcoholism and drugs. JCC seeks to offer voluntary counselling support services to people such as orphans, old people, rape victims, those affected by HIV/AIDS, alcohol and drugs, domestic violence, divorce, poverty and famine.

JCC also aims to educate and assist people to start small income generating projects so as to become self-supporting.

The centre already runs cycle maintenance workshops and tailoring classes to raise funds to support the work, but to expand the work more support is needed.

As well as supporting this really good cause the table top sale is also well worth visiting for the many other varied stalls including, local produce, meat, hand-crafted cards, knitted items and cake and pasties.

A raffle and teas and coffee will also be available.
