THERE were 23 stalls at the first local produce market at Spreyton, which raised £175 for the village school. Everyone had a good time with plenty of time to chat.
The market is held at Spreyton Village Hall on the first Saturday of each month from 10am In April profits will go to the village shop being built beside the village hall.
Each month a different charity or local organisation will benefit and a different group of volunteers will be doing refreshments.
Most of the stallholders were from within a few miles of Spreyton, none of the food had travelled far. Stalls included cakes, chocolate, vegetables, plants, bread, jam, jewellery, cheese, eggs, meat, sausages, bacon and quiches. There might be even more at the April market.
On person was from Exwick with crafts and the most travelled food came from Beaworthy, not far from Spreyton.
One of the organisers said: "Without all the stallholders the market would not have happened. We have some really wonderful and fun stallholders."
