DINNER. Spreyton bellringers held their annual meet, with relations and friends, at the Tom Cobley.
They enjoyed a choice of turkey or beef and a choice of puddings followed by coffee or tea.
Service. The recent service of St Michael's Church was taken by lay reader Carol Price (formerly of Spreyton). It was a joint service with members of St Andrew's Church, Hittisleigh.
Organist was Shirley Gillard, lessons were read by Ann Foreman from Hittisleigh and Ken Vile of Spreyton and Tony Talbot from Spreyton read the intercession prayers.
Tony and Judith provided coffee and biscuits at the close of the service.
Market. Tomorrow (Saturday, March 6) will be the first of the monthly markets to be held in the village hall, starting at 10am.
Well over 20 different stalls should be available, plus refreshments during the session.
Building. The building of the proposed new shop is in progress near the village hall and outline work has started on the site to the north of the village for the housing development programme.
Visit. Former MP for the area, Lord Burnett, with his wife, will be at Spreyton Village Hall in support of Phil Hutty, the Lib Dem prospective Parliamentary candidate, at a cream tea on Saturday, March 20 at 3.30pm. The event is free!
There will be the opportunity to meet Phil during the visit.
