SPREYTON'S Annual Flower Show took place in the village hall. The weather was fine for the occasion.
Chairman of the opening ceremony was Douglas Endacott, who introduced James McInnes, County and Borough Councillor, who opened the show.
Among the helpers were: door stewards Betty and Douglas Endacott; raffle tickets Hilary Elston; cake and produce stall Ann Barber; tombola Tessa Collins and Ena Ames; bottle stall D Callard and Hayley.
Teas were by Elizabeth Williams, Carolyn Shipley, Wendy Sincock and helpers and a member of the Blind Association also sold raffle tickets.
Judges were: vegetables Michael Edwards; flowers Sid Johnson; childrens' arrangements Bev Cunningham; junior cookery Sarah Quick; wine James Gillespie; preserves Carol Price; cookery Angela Searle; handicraft Una Hobbs.
Among the trophy winners were: Open Perpetual Cup Jack Brand; Residents' Perpetual Cup Jack Brand; Noel Broadbent Rose Bowl for best exhibit in show H Wonnacott (collection of veg); Open Vegetable Cup F Leach; Residents' Vegetable Cup K Vile; Open Flower Cup F Leach; Residents; Flower Cup C Collins; Albert Luxton Shield K Vile; Childrens' Cup Catherine White; Junior Cookery Cup Fiona Baker; Preserves Silver Salver Angela Hawkins; Cookery Cup Angela Hawkins; Handicraft Angela Hawkins.
Among the special winners were: carrots J Brand; collection of vegetables H Wonnacott; tomatoes K Vile; gladioli J Brand; handicraft Catherine White; lemon mousse Fiona Baker; lemon curd Angela Hawkins; apple brandy Shirley Partridge; carrot cake Judith Talbot; fruit cake Belle Rickard; tapestry Sylvia Holmes; flower arrangement Yvonne Eard.

Awards were presented by Cllr James McInnes.
The auction of exhibits was conducted by Douglas Endacott and Angela Hawkins.
