On the Saturday morning an hour of bowling at Crediton Bowling Club saw the Crediton Team win although the visitors quickly learnt the technique after some instruction from Bowling Club Members.
After lunch the second competition took place in the Town Square where the French visitors showed their skill in a Boules match, winning comfortably.
On Sunday in their minibus and a car the visitors, accompanied by Crediton Mayor and Mayoress Frank and Natalia Letch, visited Dartmoor, Brixham (enjoying a fish and chips lunch) and Totnes before returning to Crediton.
The evening saw 40 French and English gather at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum for a dinner and presentation of the trophies by Crediton Twinning Association Chairman Jenni Pitts.
Representing the Mayor of Avranches Deputy Mayor Christian Cossec thanked the host families for their welcome and spoke of the special relationship between our two towns and his delight that the school exchanges between Queen Elizabeth’s School and College Challemel Lacour in Avranches had resumed in recent years.
During this very successful visit old friendships were renewed and new friendships made and the French group left Crediton on Monday morning for their trip to Portsmouth and the ferry back to France.
