MANY folk of Crediton have enjoyed the V shaped flight formation and honking of the Canada geese which in the last few days have been heading for the empty maize fields above Landscore Primary School.

They bring so much joy, but alas, this morning all this was shattered by someone attacking them with a shotgun.

The last time this happened was three years ago and it has taken them all this time to regain the confidence to return.

It is legal to shoot them, but why do it?

There is now only silence - how sad.
