POLICE were alerted shortly after 2am this morning, Friday October 28, to a collision involving two vehicles on the A30 Westbound at the Woodleigh junction, Cheriton Bishop.

The vehicles involved were an articulated lorry, which had overturned onto its side and is currently blocking the carriageway, and a Mercedes estate car, which has been recovered.

The road was initially closed in both directions with assistance from the Highways Agency.

Fire and ambulance services attended.

One person was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by an air ambulance and another was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Exeter.

The lorry has not as yet been recovered.

The A30 is closed heading towards Okehampton between Woodleigh Junction and Whiddon Down.

A rolling road block is in place on the opposite carriageway until the vehicle is recovered.

There is traffic disruption in the area.
