A SECTION of the cobble paths in the churchyard at Crediton Parish Church, which were originally laid by French naval officers on parole in Crediton from Dartmoor Prison during the Naploeonic Wars, is to be relaid.

While the work is in progress those who normally use this section of path will have to either go around the north and east sides of the church or use the footpath in Church Street.

When this area of cobbles has been relaid there will some limited patching of the cobble path that runs from the west door north to the gate in the north west corner of the churchyard.

In the next couple of years it is hoped to be able to make some improvements to the section of cobble path that runs from near the north west churchyard gate across the churchyard to where this path joins the path that runs immediately along the north side of the church.
