A GOOD time was had by all who attended Lapford’s second Christmas party for senior citizens, the idea of (Bimbo) John Burrows and Edwin Passmore.

On arrival everyone was greeted with a glass of sherry or fruit juice, then a number of waiters and waitresses brought around a delicious turkey meal, followed by Christmas pudding and cream or fruit salad, and tea or coffee.

There were crackers to pull and music on the piano, played by Ron Kercher.

The entertainment was fantastic. It was hilarious when Ian Wilkie, dressed in drag, gave a rendition of Sisters!

There was an Elvis lookalike, and the Pre-School children arrived to sing, as did the younger Primary School children who sang carols.

MC for the afternoon was Ian Hemsworth who thanked Bimbo for cooking such a delicious lunch and organising the event.

Graham Glaschier thanked the team of helpers, which included members of Lapford Football Club, for giving the Lapford Villagers such a wonderful afternoon. Thanks were expressed to the Malt Scoop Inn, who provided the turkey, Luxtons for the Christmas Cake, Four Seasons for the vegetables, Tesco and Morrisions supermarkets in Crediton and to the Lapford Village Market.
