COCO, the school dog, was really excited to see all the pupils back at Landscore Primary School last week and has been helping them to settle back in.

Coco, a Cavapoo dog, arrived at Landscore during the first lockdown in 2020 and started to get to know the key workers’ children who were in school.

Since then she has grown in confidence (and size!) and really enjoyed the Autumn Term when all the children were in. She once again supported the key workers’ children during the last lockdown, but was thrilled when all the children returned on Monday, March 8.

Coco, who lives with Headteacher Debbie Main, is undertaking training to become a recognised reading dog, and in the meantime loves being in school and spending time with all her friends.

A school spokesperson said that Coco is very useful when children are upset or struggling, and also acts as a reward for children who have done well. Her favourite time of the day is said to be lunchtime when she is allowed out onto the playground with the children and enjoys the time they spend petting and stroking her.

Debbie Main, said: “Coco has very quickly become part of the Landscore family and is really helping our pupils in lots of ways.

“She adores spending time with the children and has been a great asset in helping them all to settle back into school life. She gets very excited on the days she spends in school and is always eager to leap into the back of the car in the mornings.”
