FOR the Crediton Walk and Talk walk on Friday, July 21, we started from Sandford Parish Hall and after passing through the village decked out with scarecrows we headed along the road towards West Sandford.

Here the walkers had a steady climb up through an enclosed track which eventually led to the higher road and a well earned break.

Around this area several species of butterfly were seen and also buzzards on the wing.

A quiet road walk followed next and as we were high up the views took in Exmoor and Dartmoor, it was then a descent back to Sandford and our transport.

Crediton Walk and Talk group meet fortnightly at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre at 9.45am.

Walks start from the Leisure Centre or nearby villages and take around 90 minutes, covering about three miles but this does not include travelling times.

Anyone is welcome and walks are free to join. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome, as long as they are kept on a short lead.

The next walk is on Friday, August 4.
