STAFF and pupils of Sandford School were delighted to receive £650 to buy a new sports kit for their school teams.

Chris Tucker, chair of Sandford Community Stores, presented the school with a cheque for £150. The stores are owned by the community of Sandford and all profits which are not needed to run and maintain the shop are given to organisations in the village.

A cheque for £500 was presented to the school by Karen Snow, who is the editor of Sandford’s magazine, "The Crossing" and is also Chair of Governors at the school. Each month pupils from Sandford School write an article called "Snippets from Sandford School" for "The Crossing."

The school plans to use the money to buy a set of sports hoodies from "Aquasigns" in Poughill. Any remaining money will be put towards buying the rest of the kit.

Each of the hoodies will display the Sandford Stores and "The Crossing" logos.

Last year the school asked pupils in Years 2 and 3 to design a new logo for the Stores.

The winning logo was designed by Sebi Gibb and was then modified and digitised by Hannah Huggins and her team of designers.
