EIGHT teams from schools in the Crediton area contested the annual Queen Elizabeth’s School mathematics challenge for the Jaquar Cup, organised by Mr Blagdon and Mr Wright from the QE maths department.

Due to last minute ill health the Sandford School team were down to three children but they adapted and rose to the challenge of programming their racing cars.

A frantic morning session was spent learning the ropes and testing out ideas before a practice race.

There was a phenomenal buzz amongst the teams as they prepared for the final later in the day.

The afternoon saw the real race, the teams quickly zipped into action.

Sandford’s car started steadily, but the team’s solid race planning and pit strategy won the day.
