A SALE of a large number of pictures by Eileen Endacott, who recently sadly passed away, will take place in the Clubroom at Newton St Cyres Parish Hall, beginning at 10.30am on Saturday, March 4.

The pictures span many years and are in oil, watercolour, copper etchings, prints, etc.

She was one of the founder members of Newton St Cyres Art Group.

She was a professional artist prior to her marriage and she took it up again after a break of a few years.

She did commissions, sold to a gallery in the Lake District, painted on agate, wooden coffee tables, house signs, jewellery, had cards printed with her work and had prints made of some of her paintings.

She attended country shows and art and craft shows throughout Devon.

For a number of years during the summer months she organised a day each week, for a small number of people, selling art and craft work at Endecott House in Chagford.

She was a wildlife artist and specialised in horse, dog and cat paintings.

She trained and worked at the Dulcie Vaughan studios in Chudleigh in the 1940s.

The speciality of the studio was painting on white china, tea sets, etc, as there was a shortage of such things after the Second World War.
